Shed & summer house bases
Level concrete pads for garden sheds, summer houses and timber storage buildings. We dig, form up and pour to the exact footprint required, with a smooth trowel finish that keeps timber off damp ground.
For homeowners planning a shed, garden room, summer house, oil tank or log cabin — a stable, level concrete base is the essential first step. A properly poured concrete base prevents subsidence, rot and uneven loading. We prepare, reinforce and finish every base to the same standard as full foundations.
About concrete bases
Whether you are installing a prefabricated shed, a timber garden room, a log cabin or a heating oil tank, the ground beneath it needs to be properly prepared. Norwich Groundworks Ltd pours concrete bases across Norwich and Norfolk designed to support the weight of any outdoor structure without sinking, shifting or cracking.

Our process
Every base follows the same methodical steps to ensure a stable, long-lasting result.
We visit your property to measure the area, check ground conditions, assess access for materials and identify any drainage or level issues before quoting.
We excavate to the required depth, remove topsoil and soft ground, then lay and compact a hardcore sub-base to create a stable platform for the concrete.
Steel mesh or rebar reinforcement is positioned within wooden formwork to strengthen the slab. We set the correct height, falls and expansion gaps.
Ready-mix concrete is poured, tamped level and finished with a smooth or textured surface. We cure the slab properly so it is ready for your structure within days.
Areas served
We provide concrete base installation for homeowners throughout Norfolk and nearby communities.
Questions
A standard 100mm reinforced concrete base on a compacted hardcore sub-base can support several tonnes, making it suitable for sheds, garden rooms, log cabins and heating oil tanks. Heavier structures can be accommodated with increased slab depth and additional reinforcement.
We pour bases from small 1m x 1m pads up to large 8m x 6m slabs for garden rooms and workshops. There is no minimum or maximum — we form and reinforce to whatever footprint your structure requires, subject to site access.
Yes. Where the structure requires it — particularly for open-sided buildings or oil tank bases — we cast in a slight fall to direct surface water away. We can also integrate French drains or connection points for downpipes.
Most domestic concrete bases are completed in one to two days: excavation and sub-base on day one, formwork and pour on day two. The concrete then needs 48–72 hours to cure before the structure can be erected.
Pricing depends on size, depth, reinforcement, access and ground conditions. We provide free, no-obligation quotes after a site visit. Typical domestic bases start from around £600 for a small shed pad.
